  • Best Cubs Game You've Seen

I wanted to know what the best Cubs game you have seen in person was. Not necessarily at Wrigley, could be anywhere (I know some of us aren't very close to Chicago *cough* Hubster *cough*).

For me, it was September 13, 1998. The Cubs won 11-10, but that wasn't the best part. Sammy Sosa hit HRs #61 and 62 to tie and break Roger Maris's single season homerun record (although McGwire had done it already). I thought I was going to go deaf; I've never heard anything as loud as the cheering that day.
A lot of people say this honor validates my career, but I didn't work hard for validation. I didn't play the game right because I saw a reward at the end of the tunnel. I played it right because that's what you're supposed to do, play it right and with respect. If this validates anything, it's that learning how to bunt and hit and run and turning two is more important than knowing where to find the little red light at the dug out camera. - Ryne Sandberg

I don't remember the exact date, but it was in 2001 and the Cubs beat the Dodgers 20-1. How in the world did Julian Tavarez only give up 1 run?

      Best : May 6, 1998 - Kerry Wood strikes out 20 Astros

      Worst : October 15, 2003 - Game 7 of '03 NLCS
Jerseys hanging in my den : Santo, Jenkins, Williams, Banks, Grace, Sandberg, Dawson, Eckersley, Sutcliffe, Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Lee

Oddly enough, I never bought a Sosa jersey, even during his best years.

worst... when prior got hit by the line drive last year... i remember that whack! then like complete silence for like 10 minutes

Actually, I think they were about the same because I lettered in all sports, and I was a two-time state decathlon champion.

My sophomore year I placed 2nd, and my junior and senior year - I got smart and piled up enough points between myself and second place where I didn't have to run the mile.

Aug. 12, 2004. Cubs lose 5-4 in 10 innings to San Diego. Thrilling game though, Nomar hit a go ahead homer late but then the pen struck.

Kerry Wood/Roger Clemens Matchup in 2003. wow was that a good game. nailbiting and when Remlinger struck out Giambi, that was just nuts.

And what made it even better was that a group of like 6 of us almost got into a brawl with some Skankee Fans. They got thrown out in the 9th inning.

If we do all go to a game together, it needs to be a Cubs/Cards game! I have yet to attend one of those.

At least you got to see Chris Stynes lead off and play second base.

I have been to roughly 40 games a year for the past ten years. I was about ten rows from Bartman that night.GFK Scoreboard 8.1.2003.jpg

A-Gonz had a walkoff triple after lots and lots of rain.
