Matt Skrmetta has spent plenty of time playing baseball…. in Japan.
The 33-year-old right-handed relief pitcher signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. Details on the contract were not released. Skrmetta will be invited to spring training with a chance to prove he is over his one time nagging shoulder injury which required him to set out an entire season (2004) after surgery.
He does not offer much but it is a chance the Cubs were willing to take.
