If I remember correctly, last year when Blanco was gone for a couple days due to court I think it was, Len and Bob were commenting on Murton possibly being a backup catcher, as he used to catch in High School. Why dont the Cubs keep Murton and in an effort to give him more at-bats, have him catch every now and then. As someone said in another thread, BLanco is gonna be asked after every inning due to his injury from last year, well it'd be nice to have some depth behind Blanco on the team, and it doesnt even cost us a roster spot as Murton was already planned to be on the roster.

Murton said he'd really rather not do it, and that he wasn't comfortable with the position at all. If they want to re-assign him to learn a different position, it should be SS. Creative solution but he's an outfielder for a reason, folks. If he could succeed at catcher do you honestly think he wouldn't be a catcher right now? It's not like catchers who can hit like Murton can hit wouldn't get some slack on their defense anyway.Comment
