Eyre looks to be the only LHP in bullpen

When we signed Eyre to a 3year deal, I said it was a mistake as he as had a poor record against LHH during his career and that after a year or maybe two it would be a mistake. With Eyre in the pen, it still doesn't mean he's our best LHH reliever as Marmol and Wuertz were both pretty good against lefties. Marshall is tough on lefties but he's better off as a starter option than as a LOOGY. As for Pigs, he is the best definition of a LOOGY we have in camp, but he has numerous options left. It will not be a surprise that when a pen injury does go down, and it will,that Pigs will be the first callup and he will push the Cubs to keep him in town.

Piggy has been stunningly good. Between his brief callup last year and spring training this year, he has yet to walk a single batter.

Howry is also solid against lefties. If I'm not mistaken, isn't he actually a little better against lefties than righties?

you realize, i hope, eyre will get the nod in the bullpen for the same reason Marquis, dempster, and lieber all were going to get the first crack at the rotation - money.

Yup. Doesn't make it ok in my opinion to field a lesser team. I can understand sending Marshall back to AAA to give him more starting experience, but as far as the loogy spot is concerned, Pigniatello has clearly beaten out Eyre for the job.

I just wonder how many gas can innings from relievers we're gonna have to see this year before we start making moves.

Really? The guy with the 1.94 WHIP and the 6.25 ERA is getting the nod over Marshall and Pignatiello? What Scott did at the end of last year was great, but let's stop kidding ourselves. Scott in '05 in San Fran and Scott post-All Star Break last year is not the real Scott. 11 years of 4.37/1.546 baseball....

Come on Lou. Get real. Trade him or send him down and pull up a more effective player. GO BULLPEN! (this crap is gonna be just like the start of last year.)
