I personally am not a big Daryle Ward fan, if we were to have a backup outfielder I really would have preferred Eric Patterson. Given we don't have Patterson anymore and he was actually a 2B by trade but Ward never seems to be very good in the clutch which would seem to be something quite necessary for a player who's typically a pinch hitter.

And secondly, I'm a little taken a back by all the abuse towards Ward (nice to see him hit a homer yesterday). He has had some big hits for us in his short Cubs career, he is a veteran, and he has an amazing pinch hitting career. Sure, he is past his prime, but I'm glad we have him.

Alright, my bad you've got a point, I was a little harsh and I'm sure he hits Major League pitching better than I do, it's just pissing me off that we're fixing to get swept by Arizona. Well, Lilly's pitching tonight I've got confidence in Ted and Soriano's coming back tonight so we'll see how things play out.

a little offense would be nice. especially from Derrek Lee. He is a buzzkill right now. Probably the biggest rally killer on the offense right now. The DP's have GOTTA stop.

Not only that but he was pulled for Daryle Ward who's only in the majors by the grace of God and he grounds into a double play. If we want to even start worrying about how we'll do in the playoffs we've got to start winning on the road because we've got a lot more road games in the second half.
Oh, and Derrek, freaking aim up there's no outs and 2 on if you hit a flyout to centerfield you would get a good result, you could see on the replay he slashed at it like the bat was a sword he went straight down. We need to use this Cards-Brewers series to gain ground not lose it. Alright, I'm done ranting for now.

Well, thankfully the Cards and Brewers are playing each other this series. Hopefully we will put some distance on at least one of them.

Great job by Dempster today. I'm not too much against that strike call on Backe since he should've struck out on the pitch before (I've seen guys get called out on check swings that were much less than that before).
Either way, it was a huge win, glad to see them going strong throughout the game too, not just one or two innings.

Still don't understand why we brought Marmol in for the ninth. It's a nine run game! Isn't Marmol's problem his overuse?? Whatever, looking forward to Harden take 2.

That's now the 11th loss out of the last 15 road games...
P.S. Don't get swept today.
