I was thinking the same thing.... Put Hill in as a pinch hitter and let this be done already.

    Fun to watch though.

Too bad we didn't give Owings the money he wanted back in the 2004 draft when we took him in the 19th round while he was a top five round talent. So Owings went back for his junior year and switched from Georgia Tech to Tulane. The Dbacks took him in the 3rd round in 2005. In college, he was a great two way player, he was often the best pitcher and the best bat for the club. Not only did he make great contact with a good eye but he had exceptional power. But scouts loved his stuff on the mound too much and thought he could be a quick climber to the big leagues and he was.

Yeah, you don't see that every day. He's pitching well too, so can't say they should convert him. Only way to get the maximum value from him is to move him to the AL where he can DH on off days. That would be a sight.

If Soto has a May like his April, we're going to have to start a campaign to get him into the all-start game.

I supported him as a closer last year and before, because it's where he's looked his best at in his career. But Jim had a handshake agreement when he signed Ryan that as soon as Dempster's arm strength was back to par that he'd be given a shot in the rotation. Despite how Ryan has started this season, I still have major questions. For one the best offense he's faced are the Brewers, here's his GS (Brewers, Pirates, Reds, Pirates, Nationals, Brewers) and he's started 4 of 6 games at home. He's been hard to hit giving up only 18 H in 31 IP in 5 GS (6th today) but he's been very wild, walking 14 batters. I just don't think he'll be this hard to hit allseason and when he comes falling back to earth it'll be quickly and with a thud. But for now, ride'm!

What does everybody think?

In other news, great to see everyone pumped up though in the 1st. I'm happy Soto's bat is heating up after that 8 Ks in a row slump.
yeah, that call was pretty much crap.

good to see a tack on run after allowing a run in the top of the inning

Pie has been looking great of late, working counts, not overswinging...As for not getting the close calls, he's a young rook and it'll take time before he starts getting the respect of the umps on close calls.

He might have K'd 8 in a row but he didn't look lost up or trying to force it and that's the most important part. This is a long season, slumps and hot streaks are going to happen especially for guys getting their first full season in.

My fantasy standings are very happy with Soto's tater as well. It was nice to see Demp get a hit too. I was a Demp defender last year when nobody else was, but I was very concerned about him going to the rotation. I'm no longer concerned.
