  • How about Soriano?

Score 670 says Cubs are interested in Soriano? What do you think?

Very interesting, i think it's everything against Hendry or Baker say, because they want more team defense in the infield and thats why they want Walker out of town, but they want speed and defense, and Soriano is far from it. However, his bat and stolen base possibility is hard to over-look.

    Make the trade

I would love to have his bat in the lineup! This is the final year of his contract though which scares me to give up a really good prospect for him then not be able to re-sign him. We might have to win more games in the beginning of the year with the bats instead of the arms since Woddy and Prior are out!

Who do the Cubs have that the Nationals would want??

      Now that is the question.

If Dusty thought Walker's defense was bad wait until he sees Soriano's.

Soriano would be a bad fit on this team. The Cubs don't need power they need people getting on base and that isn't something Soriano does very well.

Soriano would be the new Corey Patterson.

I don't think I would want this guy for any price. Doesn't have a single interest in any team goals that conflict with his personal ideas. You don't need that attitude rubbing off on your other players.

Yeah he's not an on base guy and obviously not a team guy....I don't want him in a Cubs uniform.

:gt exactly...his bat is extremely overrated and all he can really do is hit for power and K...he walks less than pierre-never over 35 times in a year, he strikes out at a 5-1 K-BB ratio, his avg and OBP have been dropping yearly and he's not in the friendly confines of TBIA or hitting at other fields like fenway or camden which are friendly to righties...watch and see how his hitting declines in that pitcher-friendly NL East, Shea, Dolphin Stadium, RFK and Turner are going to eat him up and I expect a huge power decline...as well as his poor ME first attitude we don't need

                  670 is wrong...again

Despite a hole at second base, the Mets reportedly aren't interested in Alfonso Soriano.
Several newspapers in Chicago also reported that the Cubs won't be going after Soriano. It's almost as if other teams don't want to stop the confrontation between Soriano, manager Frank Robinson and general manager Jim Bowden from taking place. Mar. 22 - 10:30 am et

If I felt like putting the energy into it, I could find 5 different sources that say 8 different things.

Just because one site says something doesn't mean it's right, or that 670 is wrong.

There's a bunch of articles in Chicago newspapers, some say one thing and some say another. Are you going to tell me which ones are right and wrong?
Jerseys hanging in my den : Santo, Jenkins, Williams, Banks, Grace, Sandberg, Dawson, Eckersley, Sutcliffe, Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Lee

Oddly enough, I never bought a Sosa jersey, even during his best years.

i'll go w/ logical, we have 3 2B competing for 1 spot, even if walker is traded soriano doesn't fit in this lineup and an acquisition of him would be going against what they spent the whole offseason talking about-and that was shoring up the defense

I never said I wanted to see Soriano become a Cub. I think that would be a horrible thing actually.

But your non-cited "source", wherever it comes from, does nothing to discredit what was on 670.

Soriano is gonna have to be a DH if he wants to play. He cannot play 2nd base. His career Fielding Percentage is .971. Just awful, and we have Todd Walker who is slightly less on offense but much better on defense. Sorianos career OBP is .320 compared to Todds .348. Sorianos career high is .338. The only thing Soriano has on Walker is power and speed. Walker will also be a lot cheaper. Isnt Soriano making 10 million? The weird thing is Baseball Reference compares him to Aramis Ramirez where Todd Walker is compared to Jose Vidro.

Just a note to all the active members of BBF, I consider all of you the smartest baseball people I have ever communicated with and love everyday I am on here. Thank you all!

Screw Soriano. He's one of the last players the Cubs should ever consider going after. He might have been an option at the trade deadline last season but now there's nothing good he could bring to the team. Even if he hits he'll cancel it out with his arrogant, selfish attitute and refusal to play as a member of a team.

I like Walker and Hairston but it looks like Hairston will get more time. I don't think you can leave Todd Walker sitting on the bench so they're still looking to trade him. I just hope they get something good in return.
