I'm down in the dumps because the Cubs didn't make it to the World Series this year. That would have been so cool!

Join the club. I don't even feel like watching the World Series after that letdown. I already know the Mets are going to win it, so what's the point in watching yet another team I hate take the title?

Turn that frown upside down. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "do the thing, have the power." With that young lineup the Cubs have, they certainly have the power potential ... now they just have to do the thing. And I'd say that thing would be to invest in a superstar pitcher. Because though Arrieta has been great this year, I could see him going kluber and seeing a bit of a decline next season.

His 2nd half was unprecedented...no way he matches that again...I don't want some superstar pitcher...the Cubs past investment in superstars hasn't been the best...and I include Lester in that

I think the cubs will be fine next year if they add another good starter. Arrieta will regress a little but he is a good pitcher and arrieta plus Lester plus x could be a good rotation. The young lineup will probably improve with experience too.

I just read that the Cubs are Las Vegas favorites for the World Series title next season. That's optimism.

                  The Cubs signed John Lackey:

They also traded Starlin Castro to the Yankees:

                  And they signed Ben Zobrist:

This team has all the makings of a World Series club, with their incredible wealth of young talent and new older guys.

Big offseason for the Cubs. Ranked favorite to win it all together with the Giants.

                          Well, that didn't last long.

                          The Cubs released Brendan Ryan.
