  • When will Cubs make WS? {V 2.0}

    I've been thinkin' -- uh oh. The first poll asking this question is now eight years old, and 4 of the 7 options are now in the past. So I began to think an updated poll is appropriate for a baseball pondery of this currently 107-year-old magnitude. Hence ... uhhm ... this here.

    Unfortunately, merging this with the other thread would mean losing forever the original poll. That's not happening. So I'm currently undecided on whether to let the conversation go forward in either thread (both) or not. I'm leaning toward not, for the usual reasons. That said, the other thread will probably close before long.

    Anyway, I actually think the Cubs are an excellent bet for playing in next year's Series, so my vote went there. For future reference, any voter choosing 2016 gets a free mulligan if the team Cubs up short next year. :cap:

    I bet no single team in baseball will start with better than a 10% probability of making the WS. Even if the Cubs are the best bet, they won't be an excellent bet. The field is always >>>>> more likely to make it than any isolated team.

      I agree. however I think it is not unlikely to asume that the cubs could reach a WS at some Point in the next 5-6 years.
      I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.

        The odds are not terrible of that. Not sure what they'd be... But probably decent.

          I voted 2016-20 in the previous poll but didn't mention in the thread which exact year I was thinking, which is a shame because since I made that vote nine years ago I wouldn't even venture a guess. But I'm obviously going to stick with it. They just won 97 games in what began as a continuation of the rebuilding process. Wait until they're all in it. All the choices look good, even 2016, but I'm going to play it safe (although not as safe as the last time this poll was posted) and go with 2017.
