  • Visiting Cincinnati

I am visiting Cincinnati for the first time Labor Day weekend. Me and a friend mid 20' are going for 3 days. Where would you suggest we stay, eat, have a few drinks? We are baseball nuts!!!

Definitely hit up the Gameday Cafe before the game. It's about 3 blocks east of the stadium on Pete Rose Way. An hour before game time they offer $1 draft beers which can't be beat. The atmosphere is pretty good as well. You must also be sure to east at the Montgomery Inn (Cincinnati BBQ institution). It's about half a mile past the Gameday on Pete Rose Way. Definitely worth the hike from the park before or after the game.

I would recommend a visit to the Reds Hall of Fame (located right next to Great American). It's worth seeing at least once. You can get in for $5 with your game ticket on game day. It's a very nice facility.

Hotel accommodations depend on your budget. If money is not an issue, stay in Cincinnati at the Westin. It is a couple of blocks from the park and you can walk. If you need to be economical, stay over in Covington, KY. There is an Extended Stay and a Holiday Inn which are under $100 per night. You are within walking distances to a couple of fast food places. You can ride TANK (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky) across the river to the games for $1.00 and they run for an hour after the game. There is a TANK bus stop right in front of the Holiday Inn. There is also a Radisson, a Marriott, and Embassy Suites. If you stay there, I believe TANK also picks up there. I know there is a stop in front of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. My wife and I always stay at the Holiday Inn in Covington. It is quiet and economical. They also serve an excellent Continental breakfast.
