  • Edison Volquez

After his win today, he is 5-1 with an NL best 1.06 ERA. Volquez has not allowed more than 2 runs in any of his starts this season while striking out 52 in 42 innings. Of course the second time around the league will show just how good Volquez is, but he is off to a great start. A good trade by former GM Wayne Krivsky and a trade that may bite the Rangers eventually, despite Hamilton's early success.

Well, in his second time against the Cubs, he threw 7 shutout innings. You know what hes going to throw, a very fast fastball or a slow change that looks fast.
Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

First of all, please have the decency to spell the kids name correctly....
Secondly, he has never given up more then 1 EARNED run in any start. He gave up two runs in the one loss vs. ATL, but one of those was unearned because C Patt blatently dropped a fly ball. That was also the start where he gave up his only home run. So 1 homer in 42 innings. Leads the Majors with 52 K's, leads the NL with 1.06 ERA. If it wasnt for Tim Hudson dominating our feeble bats last week the kid would be 6-0. Go back to my post on the trade, when they got rid of Hamilton, i was all for it an after seeing Edinson pitch in spring training i got very excited. Of course we cant expect this type of dominance all season long but a solid season can definately be penciled in. We know Harangatang will get his wins so with these 2 the ship can be turned around.
I have heard the naysays tout that he will have trouble his second time around the league and that he cant survive on the two pitches. I dont buy it, he has a breaking ball but hasnt had to use it because no one can hit his Santanaesque change. Time will tell......

        Hamilton

Also, i am aware that Hamilton is off to a great start, leading MLB in RBIs. However, while this would help the Reds, i protest that they would have a worse record with Hamilton rather then Edinson. Hamilton wouldnt be 5-1. The Reds cant hit but wouldnt it be great to have Fogg and Belisle in the rotation... not.

Thank you, sir, for correcting my spelling. Since you want to nitpick, read your above post and correct the spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. For extra credit, find the sentences that are not properly spaced.

I wasn't extremely pleased when I heard about the Hamilton deal, but I have to admit that Volquez is pitching very effectively after never truly latching on in Texas. I still wish it was Adam Dunn that would've been dealt instead of Hamilton.

Wouldnt we all? One problem with that....Dunn doesnt bring you back Edinson Volquez, Hamilton does. Gotta give up something to get something.

I just mean out of the outfield in general. We had like 8 OF's and imo we dealt the one that I thought should've been untouchable.

                  Oh well

Right, but my point is we had 8 OFs and only one was tradeable. Thats why he went.

And the beat rolls on for Edinson... 6-1 after another good start.
