NUNN PILOT MOUNTAIN Howard Ralph Nunn Oct 18, 1935 - Feb. 17, 2012 Mr. Howard Ralph Nunn, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born October 18, 1935 in Stokes County. Howard's major league baseball career included playing time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, and the New York Mets. Howard retired as manager of Triangle Machine and electronics in Kernersville. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Needham Nunn, of the home; one son, Howard Ralph Nunn, Jr. (B.J.), of Walkertown; one sister, Betty N. Revelle, of Lexington; one brother, Joe Bailey Nunn and wife, Marian, of Pilot Mountain; one sister-in-law, Blanche M. Nunn, of Westfield, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two cherished poodles, Bailey and Howard. Howard was predeceased by one son, James Bailey Nunn; two brothers, Orville & Herbert Nunn; three sisters, Rachel N. George, Vera N. Ledwith and Vernice N. Hatos and his parents, J.R. "Dixie" and Mattie Shelton Nunn. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
