  • 2015 Reds Season Thread

The Reds have played their first spring training game. I also noticed something but will wait until it's confirmed that the Reds will wear "1990" uniforms at least once during the season. We'll see what happens.

Today, against Cleveland, they wore their nice uniforms, but they had Mr.Red on the cap.
I HOPE that's just a spring training thing.
    The caps look ridiculous.

The Mr. Red on their caps is just a spring training thing. I have been impressed with the Reds' offense thus far. Lutz has been just raking this spring.

So when is the 1990 celebration? Will there be a 1975 celebration?

I think the first celebration is the weekend of April 24-26. Mariano Duncan, Eric Davis, and Danny Jackson will be there along with Dave Parker and the Bengals' QB Ken Anderson. There is also going to be another reunion on the Monday before the All-Star Game at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.

So we'll have Johnny starting Monday. What is the rest. I heard Desclafini (sp?) would be Thursday day game. Does that put Leake on Wednesday night and Iglesias on Friday night? They better keep Johnny on regular rest and start him Saturday vs. STL. Skip Marquis for god sake.

According to MLB.com, Cueto will be starting on Saturday on regular rest, but Marquis is starting Friday night vs. STL. Good god. Why dont they skip him and let the Cuban kid throw?

This bullpen is just terrible this year. The eighth inning is tough to watch.

It's a continuation of last year. Kevin Gregg is a mess. And Hoover hasn't improved at all since last season.

Gregg is a mess but Hoover has improved quite a bit. ERA of 1.69 and only 1 earned run. Right now would much rather see him over Gregg or Parra.

The Reds are seemingly still having trouble putting it all together. Joey Votto should be playing in a higher league right now as he is just raking. Zack Cozart is raking as well but the rest of the team is very inconsistent. Marlon Byrd looks like the second coming of Ryan Ludwick but a step up defensively. Byrd has looked rough. He was in decline before the trade but now he is really struggling. Of course they scored 16 runs two nights ago but could only muster one run last night and scored the winning run on a wild pitch. However you have to win games like last night to contend in this division.

I don't know about Saturday or Sunday, but on Friday, the Reds will wear "1990" uniforms to honor their last World Series team! Grow the game.
