_______Giants vs Rockies_______
_______Jonathan Sanchez 2-1 3.54era vs Ubaldo Jimenez 1-2 6.46era_______

Giants: Last Friday might have been Sanchez's coming-out party. He took a two-hit shutout into the ninth inning against the Cincinnati Reds and left the game having allowed one run and four hits in a 3-1 victory. A bruised left ring finger left Sanchez unable to throw a changeup, so he stuck with his fastball, sinker and slider -- with impressive results. Sanchez has always struggled to maintain a consistent release point, but his effort against the Reds indicated that he's making progress.

Rockies: After lasting 2 1/3 innings in his last start, at Dodger Stadium on Friday night, Jimenez may be on thin ice in the rotation. Jimenez's total inability to throw quality strikes, or even strikes at all in some cases, led to his giving up six runs on seven hits, with three walks, a hit batter and three wild pitches while facing just 17 hitters against the Dodgers.

Bruce Bochy became the winningest foreign-born manager in Major League history with Monday's 4-0 Giants triumph over Colorado. It was win No. 1,034 for Bochy, who passed Felipe Alou. Bochy was born in Landes de Bussac, France, where his father was stationed as a U.S. Army officer. During a vacation last offseason with his wife, Kim, Bochy visited his birthplace. Or so he thought. "It turned out we went to the wrong Bussac," Bochy said, explaining that three of them exist. "We missed it by a scant 50 miles." ... Opponents entered Tuesday batting .279 off Giants closer Brian Wilson but only .219 in his nine save opportunities.

Two games, two balks called by the umpiring crew, two managerial ejections. Hurdle was tossed after Morales was called in the first inning Monday. On Tuesday, the Giants' Tim Lincecum was called by plate umpire Gary Darling, forcing in the winning run in the seventh inning. Giants catcher Bengie Molina argued that he called time, but Darling ruled that Molina was merely trying to cover for the fact Lincecum illegally started and stopped his motion to the plate. ... Garrett Atkins' 14-game hit streak is the longest active run in baseball. ... The win Tuesday for Rockies right-hander Aaron Cook (4-1) moved him into fourth place on the Rockies' career wins list with 40. He surpassed Kevin Ritz.
