  • 2013 Rockies

I'm guessing that they will call 2013 the 20th anniversary season and wear a patch (even thought it will actually be the team's 21st season). I saw an article that Jim Tracy wants to come back next season. Should the Rockies allow that? Todd Helton also wants to come back for one more year. How can he fit in? Can Tulowitzki play an entire season in 2013 without some sort of major injury?

I do think the Rox have some good position players. If Rosario can improve his defense, he could be really good. I like Nelson at third and Pacheco at first. The biggest need is pitching. If the Rox could just get a solid five-man rotation, they have a chance to improve greatly, maybe even above .500, in 2013.

I know Tracy is gone, Helton should be given the Golden Handshake, and the A's rotation kidnapped and brought to Denver. The problem, possibly, is the organization doesn't know how to develop new pitching or work with the talent they have. Oakland seems to bring a new, young, above average arm yearly. Unfortunately they end up somehwere else. It's easy to blame it on altitude, but very good pitchers come to Denver for series, and remain very good pitchers.

It seems, regardless of 2007/2009, to be a fairly disfunctional organization at the moment.
Take a good look (at Jim Tracy), you won't see him for long! (my play on Drew Goodman's homerun call...)

2012 was the 20th season. That is why they called it the year of the fan....haha.

I would like to see Tulowitzki man 3rd base soon to take some range off of those big thighs of his, that nag him. If Chacin & De La Rosa hit stride that should help the pitching some. I always use .260 as the rule of thumb MLB BA, the Rockies have only hit that one year on the road, .261 in 2007. I know with the Coors Field Hangover effect it is tough to hit on the road, but the Rockies somehow, have to figure out to do so, to ever contend.

As always, I am hoping for a .500 season or better in 2013.
