  • Rockies sign Gerardo Parra to a $27.5 million contract

Gerardo Parra had an All-Star quality first half last year, hitting .328 in 100 games for Milwaukee last year. Then he was traded and struggled, but his early season success resonated and was good enough to get Parra a three year contract worth nearly $30 million.

DENVER — The Colorado Rockies finalized a $27.5 million, three-year contract with outfielder Gerardo Parra.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the team designated former first-round pick Kyle Parker for assignment. Parker, the 26th overall selection in the 2010 draft, hit .182 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 64 games with the Rockies.

Seems like a decent move; should have some pop there at Coors.
