In the 80's, did a pitcher break his arm while throwing from the mound? What was that pitchers name?

Yes, it really happened. On August 15th, 1989, Dave Dravecky broke his arm while pitching in a game against the Expos in Montreal.

Believe it or not, Dravecky is just one of five pitchers to break an arm while throwing a pitch in a major league game. The others are Tony Saunders, Tom Browning, John Smiley and Jay Powell.

Powell's break was the most recent, on July 29th of last year.

I remember the footage from both the Dravecky and Browning incidents. Gruesome. I believe it was Dravecky who eventually was found to have malignant tumors in his arm and went through an amputation.
