This guy isn't really contributing at all. I worry though when LaRoche or Nomar or even Abreu are ready to come back. I have a feeling Abreu is going to just have to settle for AAA when he comes back. But Nomar is pretty much coming back on the roster when he's ready. So that means somebody will have to be sent down or released. Should we get rid of Sweeney? I can't see putting Young or anybody else on the roster down in AAA instead of Sweeney being released. Dewitt would have likely been the one to go but you can't send him down as long as he stays consistent.

In Sweeney's defense (I'm a fan of his), he's only started one game this year (May 1). It's hard to get into a rhythm when you don't play.

Well is't he been a pinch hitter for several years now? He shouldn't need to start games to perform well.

2nd all-time leader in pinch hits with 166 (Lenny Harris-212). He had a poor April (2-17, .211 OBP), but I think he needs to see more pitches before the Dodgers decide what to do with him.

I agree with you for the most part. My only concern is he's a guy who probably won't be with us next season. I just hate to see a youngster get sent down to keep him on the 25 man roster. Especially if he is struggling as he is now.

And the strugles continues for this guy that is now below the Sweeney line. I think the Dodgers should DFA him.

I think a change of scenery would be best for him and the Dodgers. Sweeney hasn't hit well in a Dodgers uniform, and Rafael Furcal and Nomar Garciaparra will both be coming off the DL soon.

Why can't the front office just release the players instead of making up some bogus injury to keep them on the roster? At this point, I'd rather have Travis Denker back instead of Sweeney.
