    Dodgers Get Bobby Abreu

    Jon Heyman on CBSSports.com reports that the Dodgers have agreed to terms with Bobby Abreu.

    A deal was reportedly close Wednesday evening, and now it appears it's finally done. As Heyman notes, Abreu will be a "bat off the bench and part-time outfielder" for the first-place Dodgers. It will be hard for him to churn out much fantasy value in that role, but he's worthy of scooping up in NL-only leagues.

            Would rather have seen Uribe go but I guess the outfield was overloaded with the trade deadline purchases.

              I guess this is it for Bobby if he hasn't had any takers for nearly a month since his release. He could attempt a comeback by catching on with some team next Winter. He will turn 39 during 2013 Spring Training.
              At this point Abreu has just barely missed the 400 career Stolen Bases milestone with his total of 398 SB.
              (Just over 30 players have 400 SB in the Post-World War Two Era - 1946 to present).

                Abreu apparently has been playing for the DoDgers AAA affiliate for a few weeks when no team took him after he was Designated For ASSIGNMENT. ABREU'S contract was purchased on Sept. 1 and he was back in the big leagues appearing in a Dodgers' game on Sept. 2.

                  Apparently Abreu wanted to stay in the Dodgers franchise when sent down to AAA, hence he was not available to any other team. That is the impression I got from comments made during last night's game against the Pads!!
