    A QUICK ONE

It took only 1 hour and 59 minutes and Marlins RHP, Sandy Alcantara needed only 89 pitches to shut out the New York Mets for a 3-0 Miami victory. Alcantara primarily used his Fast Ball and Change Up, but also mixed in a few sliders and curve balls to go the distance and complete the two-hit, shutout. The Marlins had scored one run on a Double Play and squeezed another run in on a Sacrifice Fly, until Curtis Granderson gave them an Insurance Run, by hitting a solo shot, the 337th home run of his career. Alcantara was aided by some sharp Marlins defense. Only three Mets reached base all day, two by hits and one by a walk, but two of them were eliminated by double plays. The Miami victory today completed a rare Marlins Series Sweep!

The Marlins appear to have several years of rebuilding to do before they will be competitive enough to reach a playoffs spot, or even to be able to break the .500 mark. It will be a long road to the top under the stewardship of GM - Derek Jeter. There are some relative bright spots: Catcher- Jorge Alfaro; Pitchers: Jordan Yamamoto, Sandy Alcantara, Caleb Smith and Sergio Romo. infielders: Miguel Rojas, Neil Walker, Martin Prado, Starlin Castro and outfielders Garrett Cooper, Harold Ramirez and the versatile outfielder-third baseman, Brian Anderson. but some of them may be gone in about 10 days after deals for prospects are made at the trade deadline. Declining outielder/slugger, Curtis Granderson, the most senior Marlin (in terms of age - 38 and MLB games played (just over 2,000) might also be dealt for prospects.

Derek Jeter keeps giving his old Yankees buddy, Granderson a spot on a major leagues roster, despite the fact that "Grandy" is hitting .187, has not topped .200 for months, and is a complete flop as a pinch-hitter.
