  • Miami Marlins Homeruns

Did anyone see the Marlins homerun thing they have whenever a Marlin hits a homerun. I would post a picture of it but my webtv doesnt support actions like that.

I dont know what to think of it. It's kinda funny but it's pretty damn ugly at the same time.
"(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

Hanley Ramirez' first home run at Marlins Park. No response from the "Thing."

    Testing the Home Run feature...

In that 2nd video it's kinda funny that the Marlins didnt lite that homerun celebration thing up. I guess they wanna add more excitement for opening day.

Nothing personal against the Marlins but I hope they never hit a homerun at home.

If they do, instead of hitting the next batter, the pitcher should stop mid-windup, whirl and throw the ball to his CF'er, who should drill the thing.

Either that or the first homerun hits the thing and breaks it...both work for me.

If a guy in a borderline ethnic slur of a costume slid down a nice slide around it after each home run and subsequently jumped around a bit, that would completely reverse the situation and make the Marlins thing pretty sweet.

If you insist that by doing that it would make it less of a gaudy, eyesore then maybe.

It's LOUD! And it shoots water too!

And from the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel: Artist Red Grooms discusses the home run feature in this video...

OK, I'll say it. It's outrageous, in-your-face, and way, way outside-the-box. It's much cooler than anyone's exploding scoreboard, more fun than a guy in shorts sliding into a beer barrel, and it kicks the pants off the Home Run Apple. I love it!

Another reason why you don’t want to find yourself standing under a Giancarlo Stanton homer

                            Stanton's 2-run HR helps Marlins beat Braves, 8-4 .

And the HITS just keep on coming !!!!!!
