No one can say Loria and Samson didn't know what they were getting, and loose cannon Ozzie Guillen wasted no time putting his foot right in it. Memory and emotions run deep in Miami's Cuban community - a core constituency of the Marlins. This is a wound that's going to take a long time to heal, if it can be done at all.

“The Marlins as an organization has taken every possible step to ruin a potentially long-term relationship with this community by shooting themselves in the foot time and time again,” said Tadd Schwartz, a Miami-based marketing professional. “From a PR standpoint, this team simply does not get it. The fact that Ozzie was not immediately terminated is a sign of that.”

Guillen immediately went on an apology tour, arguing that he had "mistranslated in his head from Spanish to English," and that he emphatically did not “love” the Cuban dictator, but in fact hated him. Even though he said he loved him. That’s some bad translating.
