Looking at the slump that Pierre is encountering, I think that in order for the Marlins to give up Pierre to the Cubbies, it would have to be a bat for a bat. Pierre is no Pujols so he shouldn't be extremely valuable, but then again I think it can very well be that the fish will be agressive in trade talks. My Top 4 funniest BBF posts ever:

Well I said the other day that the Marlins might not want to give the Cubs the missing link to wrap up the wild card spot.
Do you agree with that?
we need someone who can get on base, and stay on base til the big bats make it to the plate...
Pierre would be that person. Dubois would be a great even trade I think.
Simple... Dubois is a prospect. Pierre is without a doubt beyond his peak. (IMO) so I think getting Dubois would help FLA in the longrun... and getting Pierre would help the Cubs this season...
Works for me.BELIEVE

Agreed on, CubsHub.It would help out both teams in the long run if Dubois and Mitre for Pierre happened.

This is classic, CubsHub, really putting the humor into that post!
I can only hope that this can be one of the key things that the Cubs need to raise their game to another level, and as for the Marlins, I believe they'll gain from the trade as well if this trade is made.My Top 4 funniest BBF posts ever:

Well, I think Hendry will pull off a HUGE trade again..
2 years ago it was A-Ram, Lofton and Simon...
All supported the team deep into the postseason.
Last year was Nomar... Great idea, did not work out as well..
This year?!? who knows..
We need one more SOLID pitcher. and a leadoff hitter...
the only thing is I dont want to lose anything in return.
I have been on Corey's case lately... but I still don't want to see him gone... I just want him to walk more often...
Dubois, Wellemeyer, Mitre and Borowski all could be included in a trade, along with a slew of minors....
Other then that... leave the team as is.
please.BELIEVE

I pray to God that Hendry is concocting this as we speak. If he pulls off a trade for Juan Pierre without losing much, he would be the greatest GM ever.
I would MYSELF would pull a blockbuster trade, that would help both teams right away. Burnitz, Patterson, Dubois, Mitre AND Rusch for Cabrera, Pierre and one of their pitchers.
TELL ME THAT AINT A DEAL!!! LETS DO THIS!!!
Imagine our outfield, Cabrera, Pierre, Hollandsworth/Hairston. WOW. Check out this potent lineup
Pierre
Perez/Garciaparra
D Lee
Cabrera
Ramirez
Walker
Hollandsworth
Barrett

he sure would...George would jump at that in a heartbeat, thats the whole reason he signed Lofton, to have his own version of Pierre; a quick, speedy, leadoff centerfielder. Now of coarse i would prefer Damon, but Pierre is a good second option
though i believe Pierre is a free agent following the 2006 season, i think the Marlins have an option following this season..not positive though"Statistics are used much like a drunk uses a lamp post: for support, not illumination."
