  • Todd Hollansworth Joins Marlins Broadcasting Crew.

Rich Walz's new play-by-play partner is ex-pitcher, Todd Hollandsworth. Essentially, he's replacing Tommy Hutton, who was let go before the 2016 season, after 19 years in the Marlins TV booth. Last year the Marlins rotated Preston Wilson, Al Leiter, Jeff Conine. Eduardo Perez, and others to help Walz with Marlins broadcasts.I haven't seen any more than a couple of innings of Marlins' games this year, not enough to form an opinion on Hollandsworth. Has anyone who has heard him care to rate him.

Don't know Hollandworth, I still miss Tommy. I REALLY miss Joe Angel, now he was the very best. " . . . and the Marlins are in the win column."

I thought that the Rich Walz-Tommy Hutton team was one of the most enjoyable broadcasting pairs I'd ever heard. I thought it was foolish to let Tommy go. The stated reason for the firing was that Hutton was too negative in his comments. I never found him to be overly negative. Besides, it was had to stay positive about "The Fish" when they typically finished under .500 year after year. Perhaps Ageism was also an underlying reason for letting Hutton go and Marlins' management wanted a more youthful partner for Walz.. ie: Here's your 70th birthday present, Tommy - "You're fired". After 19 years in the booth it was an unceremonious release and parting of the ways, where Hutton "deserved better".
