Brewers' payroll inching toward $80 million - Brewers Blog
I was just adding up the salaries of players I project to make the Brewers' 25-man roster this spring and I have them at $73 million already in committed contracts for 2008.
And that's without settling the arbitration case of shortstop J.J. Hardy, who will make at least $2.4 million this year (he filed for $3.05 million and the team offered $2.4 million), not to mention signing Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun and Corey Hart.
None of those other players will break the bank but Weeks and Fielder probably will approach $1 million and Hart should make at least half a million.
