  • Retro Alternate Unis?

Reading the thread in the Jays forum about their throwback Fridays this year got me wondering if the Brewers have scrapped it this season? I saw today that they were in their normal home whites and I haven't heard anything about there being a retro-Sunday as there was in 2006.

Can anyone confirm if it's been scrapped for this year?

In the shop of their website there is stated that they wear those jerseys on Sundays now.

Thanks for that YBF. I guess I should have looked a little harder at the official site. :noidea

A big part of me was hoping they were going to discontinue their use this season. This franchise really needs to let go of all the obsession about 1982 and look to the future.

So in other words, you don't like these retro jerseys and caps.

I think that cap was the best they ever had. I will try to buy that one this summer.

Don't get me wrong, I like both the jersey and cap (I shelled out money for both and think the jersey is probably the nicest I own), it's just I feel that the franchise needs to give the whole 1982 thing a rest (says a guy with 82 in his screen name).
To be proud of that magical season is one thing but seemingly everyway you turn you're reminded of it and it's just become overkill. With the 25th anniversay celebrations ALL last year I thought that would be all for a little while but obviously not.

I agree. I think I said that last season on this board and took some heat.

Compared to big market teams that have multiple World Series banners in their ballparks, Milwaukee looks foolish while we go bonkers over a team that only made an appearance in the 'Series.

The alts don't necessarily have to be commemorating the 1982 pennant.

They might be wearing them occassionally because the design is worlds better than the regular uniforms.

Well they are the same as the pennant winning uniforms.

As for the design being better, I must admit I really like the current Brewers uniforms. Though I'd prefer to see their road jersey with "Milwaukee" on them rather than "Brewers".

Agreed on all fronts. Sometimes I think brewcrew82 is the left half of my brain or something.

Pinstripes should be done tastefully. Those old Brewer uniforms were horrible.

How are those pinstripes done "not tastefully"?

I think Yankees pinstripes look cool. The Brewers retro pinstripes look... corny. Like when the Rockies had those horrible purple ones.

                        2008?

I had the good fortune of moving away from Milwaukee for a few years. I think every one in that town should do that. Then maybe they would have a perspective of the world the would finally convince them to let 1982 die already. Trash those alt unis and join the modern days.

I like the new unis. They are world above the last few they have had and are the best that they have had in my opinion. I do wonder how differant they would be though if Mr. Selig would have had the time to change the colours as he had wanted to. Navy and red just as the old Brewers had been.

Ugh. I hate the current uniforms. Awful wordmark.

I loved the 1996-1999 uniforms. Those were the best the club has ever had. But even the pinstripes are better than the modern uniforms, which manage to be bland and goofy at the same time.

I'm sure I've mentioned ihere before but I really like the current uniforms, except for the road grey...There is something about it that I don't like and I'm not totally sure what it is. :noidea

As for the '96 uniforms. The lettering looked good, but how did you feel about having green on parts of the uniform? Personally, I was not a fan it and absolutely hated the road caps with the green peak.

Eh, I'd erased those green bits from my memory.
