Well, I guess it is a good deal, but what was the hurry?? You probably could have waited two more years to lower the risk of him flaming out and got the same deal.

To be honest, I agree that we could have waited ... but I think it might have had something to do with pressure from fans as well, to just ... know we have him. It means a lot to me, as well as I know many of my friends to know we have him locked up for that long (granted, it's only 1 or 2 years of free agency eligibility we knocked out). As I write this, Braun just knocked out his tenth of the season.

At 5.5 million a year, we've made worse deals...

Eric Gagne: 10 Million for the season
Jeffrey Hammonds: 6.5-8.2 Million for his 3 seasons

We've got our man. If we were going to sign one of our players Braun was the one. Sheets and Fielder don't look to be Brewers for the future, so it's good to lock up one of our guys.

I'd like to see Hart signed long term too.

Great sign for the Brewers. Do you think Braun will remain the OF for the span of his contract? Based on Fielder's remarks before the season, this probably has him feeling a little angry. Will the Brewers try long term talks with Prince possibly after the season? Yea, I also think Sheets will enter free agency and maybe Mike Cameron will be bought out so Tony Gwynn Jr. can play in the OF.

Personally, I don't see Prince staying with the Brewers after his intial contract is up. Given his displeasure with the organisation coupled with the fact that Boras is his agent, I don't see him staying.

It's unfortunate, because I'd love to see him stay a Brewer.

Think we can add Suppan to that list?

To be honest, I'm hesitant to add Suppan. Granted, he's not a great pitcher, and we're overpaying him a bit. However, we knew exactly what we were getting with Suppan, a No.2-No.3 who is gonna give you 33-35 starts a year, and 200 innings. Gagne was supposed to be the answer to CoCo leaving, and Hammonds was supposed to be the "big thing". I still have my Hammonds jersey somewhere back home.
