Astros 9, Brewers 6: Better late than never for Lyon as Quintero comes through in clu

MILWAUKEE – The catcher, who earlier in the night got an assist and a putout on one play that nearly produced three outs, had the winning hit. He came around to score an insurance run on a double by the closer, who chose that moment to get his first major-league hit.

Yes, the Astros had to stretch out of their comfort zone just a bit to pull out a 9-6, 10-inning victory against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night at Miller Park.

Wolf howls along for Brewers in victory

Randy Wolf was pounded in his first two starts of the season, but the Milwaukee Brewers left-hander never panicked.

On Easter Sunday he was in complete command, allowing just one run and four hits in eight innings as the Brewers defeated the Houston Astros, 4-1, before a Miller Park crowd of 32,323.

Brewers 4, Astros 1: An Easter Sunday slogfest

MILWAUKEE – For the better part of Sunday afternoon, the best Astros hitter was their starting pitcher. The starting pitcher just so happened to be at less than his best at the job that pays the bills – namely, preventing runs by the other team.

That didn’t leave Astros manager Brad Mills many bunnies to pull out of his cap. One afternoon after an adrenaline-charged, extra-inning victory, the Astros sleepwalked through a 4-1 defeat against the Milwaukee Brewers.
