I've heard this rumor as well. I think that it will happen...It could potentially be one of Minaya's few logical moves this off-season.

Weaver and Benson are similar pitchers. Weaver is looking for 9 mil a year. Add whatever Weaver may get to Julio's salary, and it costs more than having Benson.

I think Weaver has more potential than Benson does. Also, Benson spends time on the DL every season...

But can Weaver handle the pressure of the NY media? That bothered him before IMO.

It was different then though...The Yankees traded for him and touted him as their next young ace...He'd just be a solid 2 or 3 starter for us

Minaya would leave Weaver alone if he had sense, the guy is a 12 -14 win pitcher with a 4 and a half ERA in a smaller market and couldn't hadle the pressure of NY before nothing has changed

                You shoulda kept Seo

I agree that we should have kept Seo, or at least gotten more out of him (trade-wise), but we still should sign Weaver -- he's a good pitcher.

                        No Way

I wouldn't go anywhere near Weaver, especially for what he is asking. Does Kenny Rogers ring any bells? Overmatched pitcher in his prime washes out of the Yankees comes to Shea and walks with the bases juiced in the playoffs. We are better saving money and waiting for Zito if he becomes available later in the season.

I completely agree. I was glad the Mets got rid of Benson. Adding Weaver would make no sense. You know what you're getting and I don't think he's worth whatever money he'd command.
