-Omar Minaya said there is no substance to the rumor that the Mets are trying to sign free-agent outfielder Jeff Davanon. The Mets GM said they have two rightfielders on the roster now. "I can tell you we're looking forward to going with Xavier Nady and Victor Diaz."
-Minaya spoke to Pedro Martinez' agent Friday and he reported Martinez is back on schedule, throwing off a mound in the Dominican Republic. "Pedro's been doing well," Minaya said. "He's feeling really good." The Mets plan on letting Martinez pitch in the World Baseball Classic beginning on March 3.
