Minaya Officially Interested In Contreras.

Journal News (scroll down): "Minaya reportedly is interested in Chicago White Sox right-hander Jose Contreras, but nothing is imminent. The White Sox have five strong starters after adding another former Yankee, Javier Vazquez, but general manager Kenny Williams said he's likely to keep Contreras as insurance."

The White Sox currently have 6 starters competing for 5 spots in the rotation(Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Freddy Garcia, Jon Garland, Javier Vazquez and Brandon McCarthy). I can see the Mets working out a deal for him and I don't think it would cost them much. The only question I have can he handle the pressures of New York, becuase he struggled with the Yanks.

I think the best idea is trade recently acquired Jorge Julio and John Maine for Jose Contreras. Julio (Jorge) is a reliever past his prime, and John Maine is basically a waste of roster space. Why did we Mets trade a starting pitcher for two subpar relievers? J. Julio was a good reliever back then, but we have way too many relievers at the moment, so recent gains have to be sacrificed.

RP Jorge Julio and John Maine for SP Jose Contreras will be the pitching move to keep us Mets alive.
