This is a good sign. The Mets need Beltran to have some swagger. This bodes well for those late season pressure situations when he seems to choke.
    Take no prisoners Carlos !

For some reason, Beltran finally acting like he has balls makes it feel like this could be one fun year. Shea can go out with a WS win, an MVP, and a no-hitter - The Magic Is Back !

I really don't get why this is such a big deal. If asked, damn near every player on a good team would say their team is best, or that they were the team to beat. Dempster just said the Cubs would win the WS. Happens all the time.

I may be the only one on this thread, but I like it a lot better when players don't smack talk and win on the field.

As a Super Bowl loser said, "Well done is better than well said".

I personally would have preferred no one on the team say "We're the team to beat". I think it's just easier to deal with because no when they lose to Philly or Beltran is in a slump, it's gonna be brought up. I don't think this is going to effect anyone on the team. It shouldn't make them work harder to win.

Yea, don't you hate that kind of smack ? It's so much more interesting to hear laconic, bland cliches. God forbid a pro athlete show some spunk.
