I really don't get why this is such a big deal. If asked, damn near every player on a good team would say their team is best, or that they were the team to beat. Dempster just said the Cubs would win the WS. I may be the only one on this thread, but I like it a lot better when players don't smack talk and win on the field.

I personally would have preferred no one on the team say "We're the team to beat". I think it's just easier to deal with because no when they lose to Philly or Beltran is in a slump, it's gonna be brought up. I don't think this is going to effect anyone on the team.
