While I'm glad that someone on the Mets said this, the last person I'd expect the line to come from would be CBel. In my mind, he wouldn't say it unless he was about 100% sure that he'd be one of the main figures, if not the main figure, in making it happen.

Let's assume that he does get the sort of reception in CBP that Jimmy Rollins got in Shea last year (and will probably get again this year). People concentrate on him . . . and Carlos Delgado has less pressure on him. Same for Moises Alou, Ryan Church, Luis Castillo, and Brian Schneider having less pressure on them. Johan seems to want the pressure. Pedro . . . well, we've seen Pedro and pressure before (BTW, he said that he feels as good as he did in the 1997-2000 years, when he wan three Cy Youngs.). If the 2006 playoffs didn't put pressure on John Maine and Ollie Perez, I don't know what would. They seemed to handle it alright. The only one I remotely worry about where it concerns pressure is Billy Wagner.

I tend to think that CBel will be alright with his proclamation. The 'tude of the Mets this year will see to that (Erase any memories of last September).

While it was a standard preseason optimism, he threw in the Jimmy Rollins shot at the end of it.

What I really liked is what he said about getting booed in houston, whats one more city?

Talk is cheap, and I don't want to see the same kind of over-confidence that led to their downfall last year. They need to take care of business on the field, not assume that all they need to do is show up and they will be the team to beat. Baseball doesn't always work like that.

In my opinion Beltran has every right to make that claim. Heck why not? All he's going to do is smash homers left and right vs the "Fillies"
Man I pray that Washington has a better record than Philly does by seasons end.

I doubt anyone's powerful enough to make that happen.

Lastings Milledge will hit 95 home runs this year and lead the Nationals to two World Series Championships. Both in 2008.

              Just you wait.

Which part? The Beltran hittin' homers part?
or the "I pray that the Nats have a better record" part?

You wouldn't want that Nationals to have a better record than the Phillies?
