  • Delgado returning to New York to have MRI on right hip

Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado will be sidelined for a couple of days with a sore right hip.

We probably should have signed Morgan Ensberg. He could have given Wright a breather as well. What do you guys suggest we do? If he's out for an extended period of time, I don't think we should start Marlon Anderson or Damion Easley.

Morgan Ensberg sucks. We have Gotay to give Wright a breather at 3B.

If Delgado is out, for an extended period of time, best trade option is Scott Hatteberg.

        Joe Smith. Maybe Aaron Heilman.

Trade under 30 relievers for a 38 year old part time 1B?

The Mets are dying to dump Heilman and have been for years. Joe Smith we'd be selling high on. We could always trade something similar to what we gave up in the Castillo and Conine deals.

We have Pelfrey to take over for El Duque. Delgado is important because we have no 1B.

Well he's had experience at starting, and has posted very high OBP. I would trust him over anyone on our bench over an extended period of time starting.

Not a bad point, but let's say Delgado is out for a month, what do we do with Green after that? It would be hard to lure someone out of retirement for one month of play (unless his name is Roger Clemens).

                        Well, let Gotay play first.

Realistically, Marlon Anderson will probably get the nod. Heck, his VORP is only 6 points less than Delgado's.

Jose Valentin was told to bring his 1B glove so he may also get a shot there...

There's also a chance we could see Olmedo Sáenz there..

But the MRI came back negative so as of now they are saying he'll be out only a few days..

it's not that serious, Delgado returned to Port St. Lucie and tehy said he will just be out a few games...So thank the heavens for that one.
