Delgado (hip) took ground balls and hit off a tee on Wednesday, reports the Star-Ledger. He is expected to take batting practice on Friday and could resume playing by next week

What we need is a right-handed stick that is capable in LF, RF & 1B. Nady is the perfect solution but the Pirates aren't about to give away one of the few 'stars' that they have for the proverbial bag of balls.

    The Pirates have leverage.

Not quite sure about that, but I wouldn't want Kim as an add-in...

Kevin Millar could be easily obtainable.

Well, it seems as though Delgado is more healthy than we thought...but still, I think Nady would still be a very good option anyway (not necessarily for Heilman, but someone else). Since Nady owns a career .320/.390/.477 line against lefties, he could platoon with either Church in RF or Delgado at 1B (whoever is struggling more against lefties).

Here are some stats to consider in terms of finding a good 1B/OF platoon partner for Delgado and Church...

    (last 3 seasons lefty splits...)
Delgado: .243 BA, .286 OBP (in 476 AB, 537 PA)
Church: .258 BA, .324 OBP (in 197 AB, 227 PA)

Any other options you guys can think of besides Nady who would be a top-notch platoon option?

That is a relief. Even though I'm not a fan of Delgado, losing him for an extended period of time with be a big blow to the team.

Jose Valentin was told to bring his 1B glove so he may also get a shot there...

There's also a chance we could see Olmedo Sáenz there..

But the MRI came back negative so as of now they are saying he'll be out only a few days..

Realistically, Marlon Anderson will probably get the nod. Heck, his VORP is only 6 points less than Delgado's.

    Well, let Gotay play first.

Not a bad point, but let's say Delgado is out for a month, what do we do with Green after that? It would be hard to lure someone out of retirement for one month of play (unless his name is Roger Clemens).
