  • stewart/reed johnson?

    1. The Mets have inquired with the Blue Jays about righty-hitting outfielders Shannon Stewart and Reed Johnson. It would seem unlikely that Stewart would be a match for the Mets because he is not suited to play right field, and the idea would be to find a righty-hitting caddy for Ryan Church. Johnson, though, could play right and, according to Blue Jay officials, has looked good in camp. Toronto needs to keep just one from Stewart and Johnson as a complement to lefty-swinging Matt Stairs in left field.

Show me a guy who's afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a guy you can beat every time.

I like how they inquired on Shannon Stewart AFTER he was signed to a minor league deal. Would have been smart to think about him before then.

Juan Rivera is a better option and wouldn't cost much since the Angels are loaded in the OF. He's also a former Expo which means Minaya probably has a thing for him.
