"had 1 good year his whole career"

You can say the same of Gotay (who needs to develop in AAA but is out of options...the only way a player can be sent to the Minors after he's out of options is via waivers), and Tatis is a better fielder. However, we're currently discussing that on another thread.

Today provides us another example of one of the stupid things Omar does. Omar likes re-acquiring guys he had in the past. Some have been good like Endy. Some could be good like Church. The rest usually blow. He'll probably acquire Claudio Vargas (though I don't think he'd be an awful pick up). They put Gotay on waivers and may give that spot to Fernando Tatis (had 1 good year his whole career) which is pretty stupid.

    Thanks.

Another thing he was stubborn with was the pen last year. They could have brought up Willie Collazo to be that much needed/desired multi-inning guy. Instead, they stuck with Schoeneweis despite his disastrous results in that role.

Rivera would be a very good acquisition, IMO. I think he is a guy they should sign after the season as a FA anyway. Trade for him and if he plays well, sign him to an extension.

"He's good, not great. The team didn't have great farm system depth, even before the Santana trade. However, that's more the fault of cheap ownership in the draft than Minaya's poor drafting.

I think he's stubborn when it comes to other things. For example, this team REALLY needs a guy like Marcus Thames or Juan Rivera. We all know Alou is going to play 60 games at best and Angel Pagan or Brady Clark aren't going to cut it. He should do a trade before he has zero leverage."

I think that he is a good manager, who could bring the World Series to the Mets. Maybe..
