This is a dumb question, but I just bought a authentic jersey by mail order and the blue parts of the "Mets" and name and number looks like a kind of plastic/synthetic leather material. Is this the correct lettering? I thought it would be darker blue and an actual fabric. I am wondering if this fake looking thing is just a protective covering, but that seems weird, and I don't want to pick too much at it.

edit: the blue material looks just like blue plastic masking tape. This is on a black home jersey.

The finish to the blue lettering is shiny, looks like blue electrical tape/pvc kind of finish. You'll see some creases in it, too.

I've been trying to compare to photos of real jerseys, plus I was trying to google info and it sounds like there are a bunch of fakes out there on eBay. I'm pretty sure this is fake, especially as the price was much lower than normal. If so, I'm getting my $ back because in the photos of the jersey were the "Authentic Collection" tags. The paper tag has a printed ID number but I can't find anywhere to look it up. The first two letters are BA, and that's not one of the MLB authenticated letter combos on their hologram program.

Doesn't look authentic. Return it on eBay (if you have PayPal, it shouldn't be a problem). Just tell the seller it didn't fit who you bought it for. I once bought a counterfeit Gameboy Advance game and just said the game wasn't working (I knew it was fake but didn't want to get into a mess). I suggest going to Modell's and buying their jerseys. They're about $70 and look just like the real ones. Not sure if they have Black Homes but they probably do. Only one I know they don't carry is pinstripes.

that's fake, sorry to say it. On the real one, the lettering is very hard and you def. wiill see a great quality in the material.

Yeah. What sealed the deal for me was no wash tag. Should have one saying Made in USA.

Lesson learned. Seller says a refund isn't a problem. Side note, while I was tooling around eBay I read a statement that suggested almost all (95%)the Mitchell & Ness throwbacks for sale are fake.
