Morons booing Santana

Easy. Like you said in the title of the thread, they're morons. I talked with a guy who was at the game, and he said there actually wasn't too much booing where he was (Loge Level). My guess is it was a few isolated jerks who had to take their anger out on someone. They'd likely boo Tom Seaver. And by that I mean not only as a pitcher, but throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and accidentally bouncing it."They put me in the Hall of Fame? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel!"

I really didn't hear much booing, a couple scattered hear and there. It's hard to know what people are thinking. It's possible a few people booed because Santana was being taken out. That was my feeling there. It really wasn't a case a Santana being booed.
That's not to say there aren't absolute arseholes that go to Shea, to say the least. Carter & Hernandez were both booed in their final year here. I mean really, what were these people thinking ? That was like 18 years ago. I wonder if the yuppie scum that did that are now finding that they too cannot perform like they did in their 20's. Boy I hope so. Does your health care plan cover viagra fellas ? I hope not.
Is booing bad ? Sometimes, yes. In the early 80's we had a guy named Doug Sisk. Sisk was good, a very good reliever. He started strugling in, I think '85 and the fans turned on him, and got nasty in a big, big way. It became like the 'thing to do'. He never recovered. I've always felt the fans hurt the team by making it impossible for Sisk to pitch here and get his groove back.
I mention this because I think there is a danger this could happen to Aaron Hielman. He's a guy that goes through bad stretches, like he is now. The fans are on him. It's counter productive. If it gets worse, and/or continues, I think it will make it almost impossible for him to right things. If that happens, it will be US who harms the team.
I really don't get fans being nasty with players on 'their' team. Do you boo your mother if one of her meals isn't up to par ? Do you boo your grandfather if he's not sure what day of the week it is exactly ? Do you boo your girlfriend because she has the flu or something and your on your own for a week ? Do you boo Santa at the mall because you got socks along with your other stuff one year ?
What's the sense in being a Met fan if your going to be negative about everything ? Save the boo's for the opposing team.
Sooner or later Santana will get booed, and enough "fans" will do it so that there won't be any mistaking it. That's too bad. Perfection doesn't exsist. Fans don't boo their players, drunks & morons do.
That's my Sunday morning rant !

Speaking of booing, you can bet all 52,000+ people at the game booed Guillermo Mota when he came in...you'd think someone had just blown a World Series or John Rocker came on the mound the way the boos were broadcast."They put me in the Hall of Fame? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel!"

The only two people on the Mets I'd boo are Aaron Heilman and Willie Randolph. The former because he gives up big hits at the worst time. The latter because he's a horrible manager."I'm happy for [Edwin Encarnacion] because this guy bleeds internally, big-time" -Dusty Baker
"If on-base percentage is so important, then why don't they put it on the scoreboard?" -Jeff Francoeur
"At the end of the day, the sun comes up and I still have a job" -Joba Chamberlain

Same with A-Rod. For that money, people expect 4-for-4, with 4 grand slams and an unassisted triple play each game.:cap:

Just noticed this...while I agree with the point (the fans turning on Sisk was totally wrong), his problems weren't psychological. Sisk had a calcium deposit in his elbow (think Gary Majewski) and pitched through it rather than hit the DL. He finally had surgery in the off-season, but while the calcium deposit never returned, he claimed his arm just never felt the same again. That said, the booing obviously didn't help."They put me in the Hall of Fame? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel!"

Surely they were saying "Beeeeau" because they're French and it was nice out.(fantasy football)
JM: Only did that for a couple of years and then we had a conspiracy so it kind of turned me sour. Our league's commissioner, Lew Ford(notes) at the time, was doing some shady things that ... I'd rather not talk about [laughs].
DB: Isn't he in Japan right now?
JM: I don't know where Lou is right now. He's probably fleeing the authorities [laughs].
