  • Roll Call - Mets fans come to the plate...

Hey everyone. I'm new to these boards so I just wanted to introduce myself and maybe get everyone else to do the same.

I've been a fan since birth ('73) and I live in Queens.

My favorite Met of all time is Mookie Wilson.

Who else is a Mets fan around here?

I began attending Mets' games in 1962 (at age 15.......I'm 61 now) at the Polo Grounds. I have MANY old-time cassette tapes of '62 and '63 Mets' games I listen to in my car, on my deck, and at the beach. Some of my favorite Mets are: Jim Hickman, Ron Hunt,, Jerry Grote, and Buddy Harrelson. Attended the World Series in '69, '73, and '86. Favorite announcer: Lindsey Nelson. I wear my Mets' caps and jerseys all the time. I'm an old-time Brooklyn Dodger who now also roots for the Red Sox (my first game at Fenway was in 1968). Let's Go Mets!!!
you can take the Dodgers out of Brooklyn, but you can't take the Brooklyn out of the DODGERS

When playing catch with my older brother in the back yard I used to pretend I was Kevin Elster and him The Captain #17, Keith Hernandez.

            Hiya Johnny .

We're glad you're here & looking forward to everything you can add to the Met Forum. The sig is awsome.

I've been a Met fan since 1973. I recieved my first harsh lessons about life when the Mets started trading guys like Wayne Garret, Ken Boswell, Buzz Capra. I thought a team was like a family and I was shocked, stunned, rocked to the very bedrock of my innermost securities. Yes. I cried when Tug McGraw was sent to live with a different family.

Favorite Met ? Sheeze, were do I start ? off the top of my head -

im Michael. 24 years old, been a met fan since I could walk and talk. My first favorite player was Lenny Dykstra, after he was traded when i was 5, HoJo became my favorite along with Straw.

My absolute favorite hobby is studying mets history and collecting vintage mets items, along with a dvd collection of over 200 games from 1983-now.

"Blind people came to the park just to listen to him pitch"---Reggie Jackson, talking about Tom Seaver

                Cool idea for a thread!

                Welcome to the site Johnny

I'm James, resident Mets mod here

Been a fan pretty much since I was born but really started getting into baseball and the Mets hard core in 1983.. (I was 13 then, 38 now)

Anyways, I was born in Flushing and my mom was a Mets fan, who's dad was a Mets fan as he adopted the Mets when they started up as he was an old Brooklyn Dodgers fan... So thus as soon as I started following baseball, I naturally followed the Mets... Thru thick and thin I still remain loyal to the orange and blue today

My first true favorite player was Strawberry and then Gooden... I also really liked Dykstra and Backman from those mid 80's teams...

My favorite all-time player I would say at the moment is Piazza.. I was at Shea when he broke Fisks record for hr's by a catcher

Right now I'd say my favorites Wright, Reyes, Maine and Johan..
"There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit.

Hi Johnny. I have been a Mets fan since 1971 when I was 7 years old. I was raised around all Yankee fans in an Italian neighborhood in Connecticut. At that time Bobby Murcer was the only good Yankee. I could have gone in either direction but a kid moved onto my street and made me a Mets fan. His dad was one of these people who got caught up in the 1969 craze. He would tell me stories of Tom Seaver, Cleon Jones, and Ed Kranepool. So we followed them big in '71 & '72. Then the pennant year of '73 had me permanently! Needless to say, it's been an interesting ride since!
