  • New York Mets trade RUMOR: Lugo coming to town?

Bare with me, this kid has little credibility, but he is saying that Julio Lugo is being heavily discussed in the Mets organization. His "source" says it is "85%" likely Lugo will be traded to the Mets.

What may I ask will the Rays be getting in return?
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

Please, not that. I honestly don't think they'd trust Brian Bannister in the rotation that much, though.

Hmm...I'm sorry but Heilman for Lugo straight up is not enough for the Mets to give up Heilman.

I'm pretty sure Omar wouldn't make this deal.
I wouldn't make this deal personally.

            Floyd?

No basis for this in fact (at the moment), but what about a pending free agent- Floyd- and Jeff Keppinger for Lugo and Aubrey Huff (who wants out of Tampa)?
The Mets lineup could look like:

            SS- Reyes
C- Lo Duca (best as a 2 hitter)
            CF- Beltran
            1B- Delgado
            3B- Wright
            LF- Huff
            2B- Lugo
            RF- Nady

This is a lineup with no real holes.

It doesn't take a monkey's uncle to look at his trades and see how we could have pursued other players, or traded less...

                      Never trade pitching...

                      haven't we learned this already?

NEVER trade pitching... especially YOUNG pitching for a position player unless that player is PROVEN and PROLIFIC

Lugo is neither of these and the last thing we need is ANOTHER second baseman.

Pedro should have had his toe worked on in the off season.

Glavine is what.... 100 yrs old now... and trachsel is coming off a back thing... history will show you that backs... in any sport... NEVER get better.

Keep the pitching... we will likely need to call up humber and pelphry before its all said and done.
