Skip Lockwood was The Man !

      My votes this round:

      Skip Lockwood
      Willie Mays
      John Milner
      Craig Swan

Lockwood missed election by 1 vote last round. Lets hope this time puts him over the hump. When it comes to closers, this guy was as good as it gets in the orange and blue. He is the most Under-rated Met of All Time.

Skip Lockwood deserves his BB-F OMHOF recognition !

Clendenon, Milner and Swan along with Willie Montanez for his 1978 season and Lenny Randle for once hitting .300.

Lockwood is barely over 50%! What happened to the support for him?

A bit conservative this time around...

              Clendenon
              Lockwood
              Mays
              Milner
              Ryan
              Swan
              Put it in the books.

How on Earth is Donn Clendenon, the WS MVP, in 1969 not getting more love! I understand many here grew up with the 70s Mets and so the best players on those bad teams get votes (in this spirit I gave votes to Randle and Montanez), but a man who performed on the games biggest stage and did it well getting passed over year after year is mystifying. Clendenon did hold the single season RBI record as well until Staub broke it in '75 so it's not as if he was a two week wonder.

Clendenon and Lockwood are the two favorites here. But what I think happened is we just got a lot of voters who simply didn't know about either man. For example, we got a guy who voted for Steve Henderson and Yogi Berra, but neither Clendenon or Lockwood. By the same token, we also had someone who voted for Nolan Ryan, Bobby Valentine (already in the Mets Hall as a manager who was absolutely dreadful as a player), and Joel Youngblood, but not Lockwood. Can some of the voters please do a little research next time round, or at the very least explain why they voted the way they did?
