    Initial Ballot

This is going to be a two-vote process. First, the members of the VC must post the 15 players from the following list that they would most like to see on the final VC ballot. This does not mean they have to vote for those players on the final ballot - we are just trying to whittle the ballot down a bit here.

    Rick Aguilera
    Bob Apodaca
    Bobby Bonilla
    Roger Cedeno
    George Foster
    Bernard Gilkey
    Ed Glynn
    Rickey Henderson
    Orel Hershiser
    Ron Hodges
    Al Jackson
    Lance Johnson
    Terry Leach
    Paul Lo Duca
    Dave Magadan
    John Maine
    Pedro Martinez
    Kevin McReynolds
    Kevin Mitchell
    Randy Myers
    Mike Pelfrey
    Rafael Santana
    Doug Sisk
    Fernando Tatis
    Tim Teufel
    Frank Viola
    Ty Wigginton
    Joel Youngblood
    Pat Zachry
    Victor Zambrano

    Vote Duration

This vote will run for seven days (until April 27) or until all of the VC members have voted, whichever comes first. However, at least four out of the eight active VC members must vote for the voting to come to a close - so, if only three out of the eight members have voted by the end of day seven, voting will continue until at least one more member has voted.

How a Player Can No Longer be Eligible for the VC

If a player is voted off during the initial ballot in two consecutive VC elections, they will no longer be eligible for the VC. If a player makes it past the first cut but doesn't get more than 50% of the vote in the final round in three consecutive VC elections, he too will be no longer eligible for the VC.

New rules added during VC election #3, vote 2:

If in a series of three consecutive elections a player: A) makes it past the first cut but doesn't garner 50% in the final round of the in the first election, B) doesn't make it past the first cut in the second election, and C) makes it past the first cut but doesn't garner 50% of the vote in the final round of third election, he will no longer be eligible for the VC.

If in a series of three consecutive elections a player A) doesn't make it past the first cut in the first election, B) makes it past the first cut but doesn't garner 50% of the vote in the final round of second election C) doesn't make it past the first cut in the third election, he will no longer be eligible for the VC.

    Would You Like to Join?

Would you like to be a member of Our Mets Hall of Fame Veteran's Committee? To become one, you must have participated in the regular OMHOF balloting for 10 consecutive ballots you must have voted in 15 ballots total with consecutive votes not necessary to be an OMHOFVC voting member. If you meet those qualifications, you may ask to become a VC member. Your request will then be considered by current VC members, who will vote whether or not they approve or deny your request to join. If 40% approve, you are a member. If you are denied, you may reapply 15 days after the announcement of your denial.*

If you are approved for membership, you will be eligible to start voting in the next VC election, which will be concurrent to election 50 (and, overlap with election 47 by a few days, if a second round is necessary). **All current members are grandfathered into the VC and do not have to fit these qualifications.

*The italicized rules are new, having been approved in a vote 4-1 by the eligible voting VC members prior to Veteran's Committee election 4.

A special mention for Terry Leach, who was always great, but never got much of a chance to pitch. When he did, he always came through in a big way.

Another for Ed Glynn, who was a kid from Flushing; a hot dog vendor at Shea Stadium who lived the dream.

And Ron Hodges had to have been the definitive Met of the 70's...

I'll be traveling without much access to email for next week and most of the month of May and therefore more than likely won't be able to vote is this election. So here's your chance guys...retroactively vote Mays back on the coaches and veterans elections and put him in while I'm not here to vote against it. Just kidding. Please, Please Don't.
