I understand they've announced that Santana will be the OD starter. I wonder if he'll be the Johan we signed, or if it'll turn into another Pedro fiasco. Naturally, I'm hoping for the former.
    Put it in the books.

In between. And possibly trade bait.
Cleon Jones catches a deep fly ball in F. Scott Fitzgerald's Valley of the Ashes, and a second-grader smiles in front of the black and white television.

I tend to agree. Or, at least I hope it's no worse than in between.

As for trade bait, with talks of both Santana and Wright, I see a runaway train, so I suppose anything's possible.

In honor of its 100th anniversary I see a sinking of "Titanic" proportions. The Mets plowed into the Madoff iceberg, and We've sprung a leak thats flooding the first 5 bulkheads. The Wilpons are on the first lifeboat with J Bruce Ismay as the 3rd class fans are locked in the bowels of the ship with no means of escape. Soon we will all be resting miles beneath the surface (first place)

Unless Santana comes back like '68 Gibson he is untradeable.

Which is a major problem since the last thing this team needs is a mediocre $25mm/yr pitcher

Sad to say, that's a great analogy.

Interestingly enough, I don't consider this Met team as bad as the general consensus has made it out to be. No, I don't think they'll contend for the postseason, but if a few of their players/pitchers have decent years, I don't think they'll lose 90 games.

Either way, it's a very tough division, no matter how it's sliced.

Thats why we will lose around 90. I think they Mets are not horrible, but "Below Average". In a cruddy division they might even be .500, but in the NL East we will be around .400.

Reliever Josh Stinson, who appeared in 14 games for the Mets in 2011, was claimed by the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Marlins are currently in last place in the division.

Before the sky begins to fall let me at least once say with some optimism "Let's go Mets!".

Santana has struck out several Braves batters. He appears to be good.

Baxter has to learn how to swing. Was it as bad as it looked on Gameday?
