  • RA Dickey

Figured I would start a thread dedicated to a big fan favorite in honor of his being named NL Player of the Week. Congrats to RA, a true inspiration. Feel free to leave your anecdotes, stories, and fun tidbits on one of the most popular Mets here.

I think he's going to be an All-Star this year.

I went to the book signing and Q&A session yesterday and I have to tell you R.A. is just a great guy.

It's become cliche to call a person real and down to earth, but that's just what he is. Humble and happy with what has, not arrogant and spoiled like many other jocks. He came off as a very like-able guy and some one it makes me feel good to root for and proud to have on my team.

I never thought I would want to buy a shirt with "Dickey" on the back, but I just might!

In Mets history, only Seaver and Gooden had two consecutive starts with ten or more K's and one or less BB's until Robert Alan did it this past week.
            Put it in the books.

Knucklers are funny. When they're good they dominate, when they're off they suck big time. No in between with em. It also seems to take em much longer to develop as Knucklers. Honestly we could have Dickey for a decade at this rate.

Dickey follows Johan's no hitter with a CG SO of his own. Dickey now has 8 wins on the season. Good work.

I started reading his book while watching the game on my phone today. To read about his worst start while watching one of his best was awe inspiring. To read where he came from and to see where he is is truly inspirational.

I've only read the first three chapters so far, but I've got a feeling that I'll finish it before his next start!

The last time the Mets had back-to-back complete-game shutouts was two years ago. The pitchers? Santana and Dickey.

One more K today, and R.A. would've made that record all his own.

I always thought dickey was a little bit of a fluke and will come down soon.

however he is keeping this up for over 2 seasons now. since 2010 his ERA is 3.02. this is really good. he would deserve to be an AS this season I hope the bias towards fireballers won't hurt him there. He basically was the mets ace since the santana injury.
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.

Listening to the game on the radio today they mentioned Dickeys scoreless streak at 23 innings. Anyone know what it is now that the game is over?

24.2 ... Koosman's all-time Mets record of 31.2 was set in 1973. At the risk of putting the whammy on it, Dickey has a chance in his next start.
