Dead wood. I genuinely don't think his fielding ability is anywhere near a fair trade-off for the pure suckitude he brings to the plate. The guy who bats lead-off can't even get off the interstate, and I think 51 games is a large enough sample size for me to make that statement. I would DFA asap.

I'd keep him, but on the bench. Start Kirk.

I dunno. No sooner did I post this than, leading 3-1 with two outs in the 7th in tonight's game, Torres was playing way too shallow in center. Even Keith mentioned it. Sure enough, a double was hit over his head. Collins pulled Gee (a bit too soon if you ask me) for Parnell, and Ruiz yanked it over the leftfield wall. So, an inning that should've been over with the lead intact was blown by poor defensive positioning.

Maybe the guy can't catch a break. Maybe he's just a scrub. I tend to lean toward the latter. I see no upside to having him on the team.

Playing too shallow and took a bad route to the ball.

But is it his fault he is playing too shallow? I know he likes to play shallow, but in that situation in the game shouldn't one of the coaches be pushing him back?

I am with you that I've seen enought of his anemic bat

Yeah, you're right, someone on the staff (or even one of the players, like Gee or Wright) should've pushed him back at that point, so I guess it wasn't totally his fault.

Should be DFA'd - Kirk should get all the playing time.

              Anybody else?

Hi, been awhile since I posted here. Is anybody else in favor of releasing Torres?

You know... since he can't hit?

I'd be open to using his as part of a trade to get a bullpen arm.

Good to see you around again, pstein.

I'm with SheaKnight. I'd like to see him as part of a deal for a bullpen arm. The team needs major work in the pen and we have a plethora of outfielders. I think Torres is both the most expendable but also the most marketable.

Kind of funny, isn't it? The day after we talk about trading him, he hits a double that puts the Mets ahead for good. Still, I think he should be traded.

Duda and Captain Kirk are going to be there for a long, long time. Bay is out after next year.

A little insight into Torres' condition based upon the screening of his documentary Gigante.
