  • Mike Baxter

    ...deserves his own thread.

He's now a Met with a historic legacy, a local guy whose name is clearly part of franchise lore.

Well, the word isn't good. Seems Baxter has a displaced collarbone and a fractured ligament in his ribs. Both on his right side. He'll be out at least six weeks.

I want a Mike Baxter Bobblehead Day.
        Put it in the books.

Its really kind of amazing how, just as a tough roster decision needs to be made (Bay), something happens to open up a spot. Its a real shame though for Baxter, he's been a huge plus for the team.

It especially hurts when the guy coming back is not a huge plus.

Yeah, I'd easily take Baxter over Bay right now...I suppose we shall see...with the way *fingers crossed* our starting pitching is going of late...

If we can just keep it up, and get someone to shore up that bullpen at the trade deadline...maybe, just MAYBE we might have a shot at Wild Card #2.

A nice little historical footnote took place today. Mike Baxter became the first Met to walk 5 times in a nine inning game. That'll be a really cool trivia question one day.

I am not putting the cart in front of the horse here, but in the minors this year Baxter's OBP was .077 higher than his BA. That is impressive.

He didn't play like a Major Leaguer in yeserday's game.

Note to Baxter - ball hits outfield grass - run to second. End of note.
