  • Where Are They Now?

A couple of forums (for example, the Brooklyn Dodgers) have this thread. I thought it would be a good idea here too. If it proves popular, maybe it can become a sticky, milladrive.

Anyway, I was prompted to do this because I found out yesterday that one of my favorite Mets when I was a kid, Felix Millán, has put out an autobiography. It's co-written with Jane Allen Quevedo, and it's called Felix Millán: Tough Guy, Gentle Heart. He talks about his poor childhood, baseball career, and what he's doing today. He's living back in Puerto Rico today, and he looks well from the photos on the website!

I'm guessing that Joe Rigatoni can add quite a wealth of information to this thread. Joe?
    Put it in the books.

Somebody I grew up with, upon hearing about the Millán book, told me that Craig Swan -- his rolfing therapist in Connecticut -- tells him Millán stories.
I don't believe Swan's current occupation has been mentioned here, or if it has, not in a long time.

          Todd Pratt
When West Georgia Technical College started its baseball program in 2010, the Golden Knights named "Tank" as the team's first head coach.
He completed his third season in 2012. He is married and has four kids.

Pratt came to mind at random just because I always liked him.
Anyone is welcome to name a Met from the past and I will do a little digging.

One of my personal favorites who never got a fair shake...Esix Snead. Where is he now?

Snead's pro career ended in 2006, two years after he got his last at-bat in the majors with the Mets.
It appears that he is back in Williston, Florida, the town where he went to high school.
That's in the north-central part of the state, near Gainesville.
There's an indication that he's involved with a wireless communications business.

As far as I know, Ed Kranepool lives quietly in a gated community in Jericho, NY, just off the Long Island Expressway. My guess is that he's retired, but I may be mistaken on that.
                    Put it in the books.

A couple of guys from the "Worst Team Money Could Buy" era are both active coaching youth baseball.

Jeff Innis lives north of Atlanta (he grew up in Decatur, Illinois). He's a commercial insurance salesman but also has his own clinic, Jeff Innis Pitching. His teenage son is also a sidearm pitcher.

Anthony Young lives near Houston, which is where he was born and grew up. He works in the chemical industry; as a pitching coach, he instructs 13- and 14-year-olds.

Boisclair's pro career finished after a season in Japan in 1980 (8-26-.249 in 80 games with the Hanshin Tigers) and an unsuccessful effort to return to the majors with Toronto in 1981. Ever since leaving Japan, he has been living in Agoura Hills, California (an L.A. suburb near Thousand Oaks). He and his wife Dolores, a former stewardess, had two daughters. The first, Erin, was a very good tennis player. At one time she was ranked #1 in the nation for girls 16 and under. She became (and remains) a college coach.

Jason Tyner's last game in the majors came with the Indians in May 2008. His pro career concluded in 2009, after 29 games total at Triple A in the Brewers and Tigers chains. He now operates the Southeast Texas Baseball Academy in Beaumont, the city where he went to high school.
