  • Questions about OF Del Ennis

Del Ennis played LF and RF for the Phillies after the war and through the 50s. According to his statistics, he appears to be exceptional defensivlely, especially in LF. There's not much known about players in the 1950s outside NY. What can you say aboiut Del Ennis?

In the 1920's, Harry Heilmann led the AL with a .364 average. In addition, he averaged 220 hits, 45 doubles, 12 triples, 16 homers, 110 runs, and 130 RBI.

Del Ennis didn't have much range. He was a powerful hitter who was inconsistent. Today, he would make a few million dollars.
Baseball articles you might not like but should read.

I remember Ennis as an average fielder with somewhat below-average range.

But (IMO)he was about 60% of the Phillies offense in the 1946-56 era!

(The other 40% IMO was basically Ashburn, Willie Jones, and Andy Seminick/Stan Lopata!)
