  • Best Phillies manager?

Who was the best manager ever in the history of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball club?

Probably Gene Mauch. Unfortunately, no hardware to show for it.

Pat Moran and it isn't even close

Moran then went on the be a great manager for the Reds

and he SHOULD be in the HOF as manager, taking two franchises from medicrity to the 1st division

Lost the 1915 WS to Boston (a powerhouse)
and won the tainted 1919 WS

Yup, its definately Moran. Too bad 1919 isnt looked upon as a "Real" victory for him.

Dallas Green has something no other Phillie manager can claim.

Welcome back ARod. Hope you are a Yankee forever.
              Phil Rizzuto-a Yankee forever.

Dallas Green brought the Phillies to their only World Championship, and it was 1980. I wish they would win the championship again at Citizen's Bank Park, because I feel bad for a team with only 1 WS win in five chances.

Technically, Gene Mauch; on merit for one season of glory Dallas Green.

Dont feel bad for us, there's enough of that goin around... You could look at it this way, at least we're not the cubs.

Cubs fans don't get abused by ownership like we do.

True, but in the aspect of not winning since whenever the cubs have won is what I was infereing as far as the cubs are concerned.

Cubs fans would be on you like stink on a dog! They haven't won anything since 1945, I believe. The only thing that keeps them from becoming, um, us, is they aren't treated "badly". There's an interesting documentary on the Cubs and their fans on HBO this month.
